Now, thankfully, that's no longer the case, and even exquisitely Japanese-style games are perfectly at home on Microsoft machines. One of the sagas that is taking root very well is Yakuza, much loved by its target audience. A series of action games with elements of fighting and RPG in a bizarre mix, which follows the (mis) adventures of Kiryu Kazuma, a yakuza with a very high sense of honor and justice struggling with highly dramatic events interspersed, however, from side quests and completely crazy minigames. The package also includes the new Like a Dragon, sequel to the first saga that changes protagonist and play style, becoming a JRPG. If you like the genre you can start from this, if instead you want to live the thrilling epic of Kiryu, it is difficult to decide: Kiwami is a more concentrated and less dispersive introduction, and philologically it is the first title; 0 is a prequel that sets the stage for everything, with a more modern and varied approach.
Microsoft Flight Simulator
A title that could change your entire approach to gaming, if only you let yourself go and experience it. This is a flight simulation, the most accurate and spectacular consumer experience of the genre, but it can rightly be intimidating to newbies. Don't be afraid: the beauty of Game Pass is also that you can try a game without obligation to see if it suits you (and if your PC is powerful enough to run it properly!). In terms of accuracy it is frightening, with maps and landscapes equal to the real ones and a vocation for the pleasure of travel and the unique discovery.
Sea of Thieves

A Plague Tale: Innocence
We are in France in the mid-1300s, afflicted by the Hundred Years War and the Black Death: in the shoes of two very young brothers Amicia and Hugo, we will be led by the hand in an adventure with dramatic tones that speaks of brotherly love, brutality and resilience. Although not finished as a The Last of Us, the title of the French Asobo Studio has nothing to be reproached with and offers several genuinely touching moments, as well as a rather original and fascinating, albeit dark, atmosphere.
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice
And still on the subject of original and disturbing action adventures, it is impossible not to mention the small-great masterpiece of Ninja Theory, which bring to fruition their great experience in the genre to make us take on the role of the warrior Senua. A relatively short but intense adventure like few others, touching on themes of great maturity and difficulty, including that of sanity. Unmissable on Game Pass!
Gears 5
On Game Pass there is practically the entire series of Gears and we recommend it to you to enjoy what is perhaps the most beautiful (and hypertrophic) third-person shooter saga ever. However, if you just want to take a look at the genre through one of its best exponents, surely Gears 5 is the choice to make: spectacular graphics, varied gameplay, rewarding multiplayer and a great main campaign make it irresistible. But we already know that at some point you will go back and play them all in a row, in chronological order, once you are passionate about the events!
Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of a lost era
Whether you are a fan of GRPG or not, this is the title that you absolutely must download to launch yourself into the atmosphere of a Japanese RPG in its highest form of "classic" expression: revised, corrected and expanded version of the original title, promises and keeps dozens and dozens (hundreds) of hours of gameplay in what might be remembered in game design manuals as “the apotheosis of the genre” since everything you can ask for in a similar title, DQ 11 S has it. Hollow Knight
The Metroidvania genre (i.e. the titles inspired by the best 2D chapters of the Metroid and Castlevania sagas ) is having its revival in recent times thanks to more or less indie titles but of excellent quality, just like Hollow Knight, very inspired in every point of view: graphic design, level design, general game design; exploring the disturbing world created by Team Cherry is a small pleasure that, in fact, conquered a large part of the public who tried it and, later, probably also loved it.
Ori
Even Ori and the Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisp are part of this kind, but they go beyond the usually rigid setting standards metroidvania enriching and expanding it all with a decidedly less platforming gameplay of plaster and smoother action. Everything, then, is designed to make you exclaim "wow!" every two by three, either for the light effects, the backdrops that are small art pieces, the touching music, the various ideas that Moon Studios have designed for their audience.
