The video game offering for Sony's next-gen console , the PlayStation 5, could soon be enriched by another 25 titles.
This is what emerges from an interview given by Hermen Hulst , head of PlayStation Studio, to Wired magazine.
According to reports from Hulst, who is the former CEO of Guerrilla Games , the Japanese company has already put several titles in the works and it is not just sequels or spin-offs of the most famous games. Almost half of the new titles , in fact, are original video games that will allow the introduction of new characters and stories. Sony thus aims to expand its offer of original games , including today titles such as Horizon Forbidden West, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, God of War: Ragnarok and the new Gran Turismo 7 which is expected to arrive in 2022.
PS5: 25 new titles coming from Sony
PS5 fans may soon have new titles to play with and enjoy all the excellent features and performance offered by Sony's next-gen console. The games will be released by PlayStation Studios , which does not entirely deal with the development of video games in first person, but which often supports the developers after providing the original idea on which to proceed with the processing.
The very fact that the titles are not developed by Sony, which however plays a leading role in their realization, guarantees the fact that the company is preparing to launch such a large amount of new video games in the next year.
Some of the upcoming titles have already been announced by Sony. Among these are Horizon Forbidden West, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and God of War: Ragnarok , which are expected to launch by the end of 2021. In order to play Gran Turismo 7, however, PS5 fans will have to wait until 2022.
Lots of new games, but few PS5s on the way
While the offer of PS5 titles seems set to expand rapidly, Sony still has to deal with the impossibility of increasing the production of its next-gen consoles. The main problem is the global shortage of chips , which has compromised the Japanese company's ability to produce enough consoles to meet demand.
Just in recent days, Sony has announced to fans a not-so-good news: the problems with the supply of PS5 caused by the Covid-19 pandemic are not destined to end in the current year. Even though the company has sold around 7.8 million consoles, it won't be able to sustain producing enough inventory for everyone who would like to buy one and it's very likely the PS5 shortage won't run out before 2022.
