Final Fantasy I-III Coming to Android on July 29th

The first three chapters of the Final Fantasy saga will be officially published by Square Enix in the Play Store on July 29th.

Square Enix announced last month during E3 2021 that it will release remasters of the first six Final Fantasy games for PC and mobile devices. In the past few hours, the Japanese developer has confirmed that all six games will launch on PC (via Steam) on July 28th.

Square Enix later revealed that only the first three games in the series will launch on Android and iOS this month. So if you are a fan of the franchise and want to play the old titles on your Android smartphone or tablet, you can buy them from July 29th.

All three Final Fantasy games will be remastered with 2D pixel graphics and will bring the following improvements to the original titles (we imagine this will apply to the next three chapters as well):

  • Redesigned 2D pixel character and background graphics, featuring iconic Final Fantasy character designs created by original artist and current collaborator Kazuko Shibuya
  • Beautifully rearranged soundtracks, supervised by the original composer Nobuo Uematsu
  • Improved gameplay, including support for controllers and touch controls, modernized user interface, automatic battle options and more
  • Immerse yourself in the world of the game with additional extras such as the bestiary, illustration gallery, music player and the ability to save at any time.

Unfortunately we do not yet have information about the selling price of the first 3 chapters of the Final Fantasy saga. What appears certain is that the price will be identical on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store (for iOS and iPadOS).
