PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, now universally known as PUBG or “the progenitor of Battle Royale”, officially became free-to-play today 12 January.
The effect on the turnout was nothing short of immediate, as the Steam numbers show.
Currently the title is in second position on the Valve platform for active players with over 650,000 concurrent players and a peak of 668,706. These numbers led him to just overtake DOTA 2, now in third position, while CS: GO remains as always in first position.
With all the free-to-play Battle Royale running on the PUBG market it was a bit sidelined, but evidently there are quite a few fans of the genre curious to find out how it all began and get their hands on this piece of modern history of the game.
With the transition of PUBG to free-to-play, obviously Krafton Inc. has launched the new BattleGrounds Plus package: sold at a cost of $ 12.99 it is designed to reward all those who have previously purchased the game (who will get immediate free access as part of the Special Commemorative Pack).
In a nutshell, this is an optional “premium” upgrade, which will offer buyers:
- Bonus 1,300 G-COIN
- PE Survival Masters + 100% increase
- Career – Medal tab
- Ranked mode
- Custom match functionality
- In-game items, including the Captain Camo set, which includes a hat, camouflage mask and camouflage gloves
Additionally, to prepare for the arrival of new players, PUBG Battlegrounds has updated to version 15.2 which introduces new tutorials and training modes, as well as various new features that will make longtime players like Tactical Gear happy.
